Listing rules
What makes a good listing – and what we have to remove.
Last updated: September 2026
Principle
In its first version Autonio is a pure car marketplace. Every listing must be true, complete and current: the photographed and described vehicle must exist, be available for sale and match the stated condition.
Prohibited content
- False or misleading details (mileage, first registration, accident-free status, equipment).
- Content that breaks laws or violates third-party rights (others’ photos or texts, trademark abuse).
- Third-party personal data as well as readable plates, chassis numbers (VIN) and addresses in texts or photos.
- Discriminatory, insulting or immoral content.
Photos
Upload only photos of the actual vehicle – no catalogue, stock or AI-generated images to represent its condition. Obscuring number plates before upload is recommended.
Prices
All prices in Swiss francs as final prices. State whether VAT is included, reclaimable or not applicable (Price Indication Ordinance, PIO). Bait prices and hidden surcharges are prohibited.
Prohibited business practices
- No financing, leasing or insurance offers as listings – the first version has no category for them.
- No duplicate listings for the same vehicle and no confusion about private vs. business sale.
- Private accounts must not be used to evade the subscription duty for commercial trading.
Consequences
Depending on severity, violations lead to rejection, removal or blocking of listings and accounts. Third-party reports are reviewed in the moderation queue; a report alone removes no listing. Questions: contact.
